Location
The port of Matamoros is located in the state of Tamaulipas, on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico, 84 km south of the city of Matamoros, its geographical coordinates are 25°14'00" north latitude and 97°25'00" west longitude.

- Coahuila, Durango, Guanajuato, Nuevo León, Oaxaca, San Luis Potosí, Sinaloa, Tamaulipas, Veracruz, while in the United States it impacts Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas.
- It is home to more than 1,400 maquiladoras, as well as 1,114 producers and exporters established in Mexican territory alone.
- Additionally, Altamira in Tamaulipas, Coatzacoalcos in Veracruz and Salinas Cruz in Oaxaca together form the Interoceanic corridor of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec.
